Global Record: Tirupati Laddu Sales Hit Historic High of 1.26 Crore in a Single Month!

TIRUMALA: The world-famous Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has scripted a golden chapter in its history. Breaking all previous records, the sale of the iconic ‘Tirupati Laddu Prasadam’ reached an all-time high in June 2026, driven by an unprecedented influx of pilgrims during the summer vacation season and optimized crowd management by the temple administration.‌ According to official data released by the TTD, a staggering 1,26,81,805 (1.26 crore+) laddus were sold in the month of June alone. This marks the highest-ever laddu sales recorded in a single month in the history of the hill shrine.

The Quarter of Growth: A Upward Trajectory

The record-breaking numbers in June were the culmination of a highly successful summer season. The temple witnessed a steady month-on-month rise in both pilgrim footfall and prasadam demand over the last quarter: Month (2026) Number of Laddus Sold April – 1,11,96,170, May – 1,21,35,528,  June – 1,26,81,805

Note: The June sales reflect a significant 15% to 20% growth compared to the same period in previous years, significantly boosting TTD’s revenue.

What Fueled This Mega Record?

Several factors aligned to create this historic milestone for the world’s richest Hindu temple:

  • The Summer Vacation Rush: The confluence of school-college holidays and extended weekends in June brought millions of families from across India and the globe to Tirumala for the Srivari Darshan.
  • Streamlined TTD Arrangements: TTD implemented strategic token systems, optimized queue lines, and extended darshan hours. By reducing wait times, the administration successfully facilitated smooth darshan for a larger number of devotees daily.
  • Surge in Per-Head Demand: The devotion associated with the laddu is immense. On average, every visiting pilgrim purchased between 3 to 5 laddus to take back home for family and friends, pushing the total count past the 1.26 crore mark in just 30 days.

A 300-Year-Old Culinary Legacy

The Tirupati Laddu is not just a sweet; it is a sacred emotion shared by billions of devotees worldwide.

Did You Know? The Tirupati Laddu has a rich history spanning over 300 years (introduced officially in the temple in 1715) and holds the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tag, meaning its unique taste and preparation method cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world.

The signature aroma and taste of the laddu come from its uncompromising quality ingredients—pure desi ghee (clarified butter), premium cardamom, cashew nuts, raisins, and sugar candy (kalkandu).
To meet this massive, unending demand, TTD utilizes the ‘Laddu Potu’—a massive, state-of-the-art automated kitchen facility capable of producing hundreds of thousands of laddus a day under strict hygienic conditions, all while maintaining the traditional wood-fired flavor essence wherever required.

This historic milestone of 1.26 crore laddu sales in a mere 30 days reaffirms Tirumala’s position not just as a global spiritual hub, but also as a marvel of mega-kitchen management.
